State Bicycle Company is a bicycle and lifestyle brand based out of Tempe, AZ. They have been selling fixed gear bicycles since 2001 with most of their sales being direct to consumer.Most of their sales resulted in a bicycle being shipped directly to the customers front doorstep. As a leader in this space, they decided it was time to update their box design in order to stay ahead of what their competitors were doing. The challenge was to use the bike box to tell a story.
The design also needed to work for 2 different box sizes in order to keep production costs down.

I designed both sides of the box to highlight the two riders that State Bicycle Company had selected for me to use. Each design features a map of where the rider’s story takes place, halftone graphics of the riders, their bikes, and a small detail from their tale. The design solution I created is also an expandable one that can be used on future boxes. As a way of keeping production costs lower I made one design that fit the multiple box sizes State uses. The end result was a flexible and unique package design that stands out and helps push the State Bicycle brand forward. #ExploreYourState
